Jason was born a "preacher's kid" in Monroe, NC. "I grew up surrounded by Christian teaching that was also lived out daily in our home." At the age of six, he made the decision to personally trust in Jesus Christ as Savior. As his family served in churches in and around his hometown, Jason had the opportunity to volunteer in ministry at an early age. This experience began with Children's Ministry. "The Lord used these experiences to plant a desire in me to serve Him more." Jason surrendered to full-time Christian service just before graduating from high school.

While in his last year at Wingate, Jason married his childhood friend, Paige Berry, in December of 1998. He graduated from Wingate in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies. The next semester, he began classes at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC and went on to graduate with a Masters of Divinity in 2002.

Immediately after Southeastern, the Lord called Jason to New Life Baptist Church in Union, SC. As Jason settled in as the Minister of Education and Students, he and Paige also settled into their first home and had their first child. Emma Grace was born in August of 2002. Two years later Jason and Paige would welcome Josiah "Luke" into their family in March of 2004. At New Life, Jason led the Sunday School, Discipleship, and Visitation ministries while also developing a ministry to Children and Youth.

Jason came to First Baptist Church of the Islands in December of 2005. "Over the past few years, God has given me a greater desire to see the lives of Children and Families changed." Jason sees the Children's Ministry of First Baptist as foundational for Children to discover and begin a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ. He also seeks to partner with Parents and Leaders as they form a team of encouragement and support to help Children learn and grow in their Walk with Christ. "I am so excited to see what God is going to do here in our church and community. The Lord has given us so many opportunities to reach our World beginning right here on these Islands."
