At First Baptist Church of the Islands, our objective is to know Christ and to make Him known. Making Him known involves taking the initiative to share the good news of the gospel both here in our community as well as across the world. Jesus gave His mandate in Matthew 28:19 when He said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations..." With that in mind, we provide many opportunities to do just that!
FAITH Ministry
Each Monday evening at 6:30pm teams from FBCI go out into the community to share the Gospel with others. This is a weekly evangelism ministry we use to be vibrant witnesses for Christ. We typically offer a training class during our Sunday evening DIVE Discipleship Classes. In training participants to present the gospel both effectively and tactfully, we allow God to use us to encourage many into a salvation relationship with Christ.
City Missions
It is here that our church seeks to serve our community both creatively and practically. Whether through a Trunk or Treat Event offered every October where approximately 1,500 people pass through each year, or through our annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament held in March, which draws numerous teams from around the city, or the annual "The Island's Biggest Christmas Party" held during Christmas time, which draws over 500 people to participate, City Missions Ministry is reaching many with the gospel of Christ and is sharing with many the love of Christ. A variety of events aimed specifically at men and women, as well as other exciting City Missions opportunities are also held throughout the year. Each of these City Missions events is designed to lead others to know Christ and to encourage the First Baptist Church of the Islands family to make Him known.
Global Missions
A biblical church is a church which understands the call and the need to take the gospel to all parts of the globe. With that in mind, First Baptist Church of the Islands is engaged in seeking to evangelize other parts of our world. In the past, short-term teams have been sent to countries such as Russia, Uganda, Mexico, Thailand and the Philippines to both serve and evangelize the people in those areas.
