At First Baptist Church of the Islands, we believe that a person's membership within a local church should not be taken lightly. As we seek to first know Christ and lead others to know Him, the privilege is that we are able to do that together, in unity, encouraging one another along the way. We rejoice when another person is planted here in our church family to engage in the journey of knowing Christ and of being used by the Lord to make Christ known!
To become a member of First Baptist Church of the Islands, there are two things which must be done. First, you must have made the decision to turn from your sin and to place your faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, having surrendered the control of your life to Him. The very meaning of the word "church" in the New Testament refers to those who are "called out" to salvation in Christ. Once a person has received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, they then must follow Him in obedience to His call to be baptized. The method of baptism which we follow is baptism by immersion. This is not in order to receive salvation but is a public confession of one’s salvation which has come as a result of having received Christ. This step is so important because it is our way of identifying with Christ as our Lord and Savior.
For those who feel the Lord leading them to plant themselves at First Baptist Church of the Islands as members, we congratulate you!
