It seems that this time of year makes it difficult to keep from standing at a window and just staring out at the beauty that comes in Spring. I think our 9-month old, Drew, is a lot like his dad as I've found that one of the secrets to quieting him down when he gets fussy is to just walk him over to look out the back door! The boy loves to look outside!! Interestingly the Bible tells us that it's creation which points us to God and His glory in Psalm 19:1, as it says, "The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands." Praise God for the genuine decisions which were made during our revival services last week! It was apparent that He was at work in the lives of some who were here during those services. This past Sunday was a great day, as well, in being able to celebrate the Lord's Supper together as a body of Christians. An eight year old and his mom came up to me after one of the morning services to share with me that he had given his heart to Jesus during the invitation song in the service. It's exciting to see how God works in the lives of people . . . I was about his age when I gave my life to Christ. I read something interesting the other day that really challenged the way I say things. It made mention of how we have a tendency to pray, "Lord, I give you this day today . . . " It made mention of how ironic it is that we give to God what already belongs to Him! Ouch! I thought of how often I pray something so similar, even in church. It's humorous to imagine God saying, "Well thanks for the day, Brooks. I don't know what I would've done had you not given it to Me!" Well, one application is that it helps me to give over to God what already belongs to Him so that I don't try to use it like it belongs to me in the first place! Got it! So, recognize that it all belongs to Him and be thankful that He allows us to manage and enjoy those things for His glory. Enjoy Him today! Pastor Brooks |
