As I parked in our parking lot yesterday for another exciting Sunday at First Baptist Church of the Islands, it crossed my mind of how devoted our choir is in leading people to worship our great God. Sunday after Sunday they come out of the conviction that leading others to worship is worth the extra effort to get up early and come ahead of the crowds. They fill the platform each week and, out of the sincerity of their hearts, worship God authentically and lead many others to do the same. I love those moments when God impresses on me a simple reminder of what He is doing here and of what He has given to us here. Truly, our Savior Jesus is worth every song we sing and how blessed we are to have such a dedicated choir to lead us to lift Him high every Sunday! Pray for your Music/Worship Pastor, Nathan, this week as he leads this area of our ministry! This coming Sunday, February 24, we will welcome Sam Warner to our church from Lifeway Christian Resources in Nashville, Tennessee. I had the privelege of meeting Sam a few months ago and have found him to have a genuine desire to see our church succeed in our upcoming building efforts. Sam will take just a few moments to detail what we can expect in the months ahead as we prepare ourselves for God to do His work through us in these great days. Sam is extremely dedicated to the call of God on his life to assist churches in the midst of building programs just like ours. In fact, he was in Savannah one week ago to meet with our Capital Giving Leadership Team and God used him to fire us up about the potential we face in the days ahead . . . be sure to welcome Sam when you see him on Sunday. Our Bridge Ministry, which is a specific ministry to 5th and 6th graders, has been on a trip to Disney World this weekend . . . by the time you read this on Monday evening, they should be back and snuggled into their beds for a bit of "catch-up" on much needed sleep! God has blessed us with some great volunteer leaders (is there really such a thing as "volunteer" . . . arent' we all "called"?!) who do a great job in reaching out to our children and students. I believe Joel and Jason probably call these leaders "gold" since they prove to be so valuable in impacting these lives for Christ. If you haven't noticed, God is at work all around us . . . question is, "Is He at work in and through YOU?!" Let God be God today in your life . . . see you on Sunday! Pastor Brooks |
